Subject: Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis) discovered in Indiana

The USDA Systematic Entomology Laboratory confirmed the presence of Agrilus planipennis, the emerald ash borer (EAB), from Steuben County, Indiana, which is a new state record for the beetle. EAB has previously been confirmed in Michigan, Ohio, and very limited distribution within Maryland and Virginia. Surveys for EAB will be conducted to determine the number of hosts available and the extent of the infestation. The Jamestown Township in Steuben County, Indiana will be quarantined.
