In New Zealand at the Port of Auckland, 21 live Giant African Snails (Achatina fulica) were intercepted on a container shipment from Wallis and Futuna Islands. Numerous Giant African Snail eggs were also discovered. This snail, with its extensive host range, is considered one of the most damaging land snails. After removal from the vessel, the eggs and snails were destroyed, and the vessel was fumigated.
