Subject: New diaspid genus, Paraselenaspidus, intercepted at San Francisco port for first time

Paraselenaspidus madagascariensis Mamet (Homoptera: Diaspididae) was intercepted for the first time by a PPQ officer at the Port of San Francisco on bananas (Musa acuminata) from Rwanda, Africa. Hosts of this species of diaspid include boxwood (Maclura pomifera), camellia, citrus and palm.
