About the detection: As part of the surveillance activities conducted by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico, specimens of black fig fly (Silba adipata) were detected, on unripe fig fruit (Ficus carica) only (less than 2.5 cm in diameter) in orchards in the Municipality of Ayala, Morelos.
Actions: The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate, has started incursion delimitation through phytosanitary surveillance.
Based on this and according to the International Plant Protection Convention standards, Silba adipata is considered a transitory, actionable pest and under eradication in Mexico.
