Official Pest Reports are provided by National Plant Protection Organizations within the NAPPO region. These Pest Reports are intended to comply with the International Plant Protection Convention's Standard on Pest Reporting, endorsed by the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.

Report: On May 30, one hemlock tree at Niagara Glen Park (on the Niagara River), Ontario, was confirmed infested with Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The delimitation surveys conducted covered a 500 m radius around the infestation and no additional infestations were found. The infested tree was removed and incinerated on June 26, 2013. The CFIA has collaborated with local and provincial partners in the removal and disposal of the infested tree on the property.
Follow-up surveys for HWA will resume in the Fall and again in 2014 to verify that these eradication efforts were successful and to ensure the continued pest-free status of Eastern Canada.
Under IPPC standards (e.g. ISPM No. 8), HWA is considered present only in British Columbia and is subject to official control in Canada.
