Title: Diaphorina citri (Asian Citrus Psyllid) – Regulated area established in San Luis Obispo County in California

Report: Effectively immediately, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), in cooperation with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), is establishing a new 84 square mile regulated area for the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) in California. APHIS is taking this action because of the detection of ACP in San Luis Obispo County.

APHIS is applying safeguarding measures on the interstate movement of regulated articles from the regulated area in San Luis Obispo County. These measures parallel the intrastate quarantine enacted by CDFA on April 4, 2014. This action is necessary to prevent the spread of ACP to non-infested areas of the United States. The area under quarantine for ACP in California totals 46,420 square miles.

APHIS will publish a notice of this change in the Federal Register.

Under IPPC Standards, Asian Citrus Psyllid (Diaphorina citri) is considered to be a pest that is present, only in some areas, and subject to official control to limit its spread in the United States.
