Official Pest Report

Official Pest Reports are provided by National Plant Protection Organizations within the NAPPO region. These Pest Reports are intended to comply with the International Plant Protection Convention's Standard on Pest Reporting, endorsed by the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.

Report:

As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico, Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus was detected in eight nurseries that grow tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) and chile (Capsicum sp.) in the municipality of Yurecuaro, Michoacan.

The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate, has initiated phytosanitary actions such as a sampling program, diagnostic and control of the virus in the detection areas.

Based on this and according to the International Plant Protection Convention standards, Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus is considered a transitory pest, actionable and under eradication in the municipality of Yurecuaro, Michoacan.
