Report: As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico, the spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii Matsumura) was detected in the municipality of Los Reyes, State of Michoacan, Mexico.

The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate has initiated phytosanitary actions, such as a monitoring program, removal of weed as alternate hosts, disposal of surplus fruit, establishment of an integrated pest management program in the detected area and control of host movement.

Based on this and according to International Plant Protection Convention standards, spotted-wing drosophila is considered present in Mexico, only in the municipality of Los Reyes, Michoacan, transient: actionable and under eradication.
