Title: Update on the citrus leprosis in Mexico

As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico, citrus leprosis (Citrus leprosis virus) was detected in the municipalities of Campeche, Champotón in the state of Campeche; Chiapa de Corso, Ocozocoautla de Espinoza, Tecpatán in the state of Chiapas; Atoyac de Álvarez in the state of Guerrero; Metzitlán, Huejutla de Reyes, Huautla, San Felipe Orizatlán in the state of Hidalgo; Guadalajara, Zapotlanejo, El Arenal, Ayotlán, Tlaquepaque, Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Atotonilco El Alto, El Arenal, Casimiro Castillo in the state of Jalisco; Ayala, Puente de Ixtla, Jojutla in the state of Morelos; Amatlán de Cañas in the state of Nayarit; Linares, Montemorelos in the state of Nuevo León; Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Villa de Tututepec de Melchor de Ocampo, Matías Romero Avendaño in the state of Oaxaca; Tilapa, Huaquechula, Izúcar de Matamoros, Xochiltepec, Tlapanalá, Tepeojuma, San Martín Totoltepec in the state of Puebla; Arroyo Seco in the state of Querétaro; Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Othón P. Blanco, Bacalar, José María Morelos in the state of Quintana Roo; Ciudad Fernández, Rioverde in the state of San Luis Potosí; Ahome, Sinaloa, El Rosario, Novolato, Culiacán, El Fuerte, Cosalá, Salvador Alvarado, Angostura, Guasave in the state of Sinaloa; Cajeme in the state of Sonora; Huimanguillo, Cunduacán, Cárdenas, Comacalco in the state of Tabasco; Matamoros, Güemez, Padilla, Reynosa, Río Bravo in the state of Tamaulipas, Jáltipan, Jesús Carranza, Soconusco, Chiconamel in the state of Veracruz; Peto, Tzucacab, Halachó, Mérida, Santa Elena, Izamal, Conkal, Tzucacab, Oxkutzcab, Peto, Motul, Oxkutzcab, Samahil, Hunucmá, Valladolid, Chemax in the state of Yucatán and Jalpa in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.

SENASICA, through the Plant Health General Directorate, has initiated phytosanitary actions, such as a sampling program, establishment of an integrated disease management program in the affected area and movement control of host plants.

Based on this and according to the International Plant Protection Convention standards, Citrus leprosis is considered a quarantine pest present in some municipalities of Campeche, Chiapas, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas in Mexico.
