Official Pest Report

Official Pest Reports are provided by National Plant Protection Organizations within the NAPPO region. These Pest Reports are intended to comply with the International Plant Protection Convention's Standard on Pest Reporting, endorsed by the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.

Report:

As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico and the Preventive trapping program for exotic fruit flies, Bactrocera scutellata (Hendel) was detected in the municipality of Manzanillo, Colima.

The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate, has initiated phytosanitary actions, such as outbreak delimitation and removal of host fruits for this pest.

Based on this and according to the International Plant Protection Convention standards, Bactrocera scutellata (Hendel) is considered a quarantine pest, transitory, actionable and under eradication in Mexico.
