Official Pest Report

Official Pest Reports are provided by National Plant Protection Organizations within the NAPPO region. These Pest Reports are intended to comply with the International Plant Protection Convention's Standard on Pest Reporting, endorsed by the Interim Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in March 2002.

Report:

As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico and the Preventive trapping program for exotic fruit flies, an immature male specimen, one to three days old of Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) was detected in the municipality of Manzanillo, Colima.

The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health Directorate, has started phytosanitary actions, such as incursion delimitation, setting 220 traps, and application of Spinosad bait spray in 25 hectares in the regulated area. Based on this and according to the International Plant Protection Convention standards, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) is considered a quarantine pest, transitory, actionable and under eradication in Mexico.
