Publicada: June 08, 2001
Source: ProMED mail
A recent publication reported that sweet maize (Zea mays) plants were found infected with High Plains virus in Washington State in 1998. Plants showing the characteristic yellow streaking, stunting and mosaic symptoms were observed in three eastern counties in Washington. Eriophyid mites, which vector High Plains virus, were found within the maize leaf whorls. This is the first report of High Plains virus in Washington State.
