The pine shoot beetle (Tomicus piniperda (Linnaeus)) is considered a quarantine pest to Canada and is regulated by CFIA both with regards to imports as well as domestically. The CFIA has recently (as of Oct. 16, 2009) revised the pine shoot beetle regulated areas to reflect recent on-going surveillance activities and pest detections in North America.

Within Canada the regulated areas are defined as follows:

Under IPPC Standards (e.g., ISPM No. 8), the pine shoot beetle is considered present (only in some areas) and subject to official control in Canada.

Le grand hylésine des pins (Tomicus piniperda Linné) est considéré comme étant un parasite justiciable de quarantaine au Canada et est réglementé par l’ACIA tant à l’importation qu’au pays. L’ACIA a récemment (en date du 16 octobre 2009) modifié les zones réglementées pour ce ravageur afin de tenir compte des résultats des activités de surveillance permanente et de dépistage de l’insecte en Amérique du Nord.

Au Canada même, les zones réglementées sont définies comme suit:

Conformément aux normes de la CIPV, Tomicus piniperda est considéré présent seulement dans certaines régions du Canada et le ravageur est soumis à des contrôles officiels.
