Report:
As part of the actions applied by the National System for Phytosanitary Epidemiological Surveillance in Mexico, the shot hole borer Euwallacea sp. and its symbiont fungi Fusarium euwallaceae were detected in urban areas of the municipality of Tijuana, state of Baja California.
The National Service for Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality, through the Plant Health General Directorate, initiated phytosanitary actions to confine and eradicate the pests, which include increasing the trapping network, delimiting the outbreak, removing pest-positive (infested) plants and controlling the vector through chemical treatment injections.
Based on this and according to International Plant Protection Convention standards, the shot hole borer Euwallacea sp. and its symbiont fungi Fusarium euwallaceaeare considered quarantine pests, actionable, transitory and under eradication in Mexico.
